Ja, sicher. Ein Gott ist er. Ein Punkrock-Gott. Schließlich ist er ein Ramone! Aber ein göttliches, ein heiliges Album? Vor wenigen Tagen erschien „The Holy Spell…“ (Fat Wreck Chords) von CJ Ramone – und der klärt auf: „I never lost that magical feeling that you get from music, and that’s where the title came in. The bands that I listened to when I was young that I really enjoyed, I can still put that music on now, and it still has the same magic for me.“
„The Holy Spell…“ ist sein drittes Solo-Album (und das in knackigen fünf Jahren) und dieses ist: Wunderbar. Großartig. Und tatsächlich göttlich gut. Da gibt es klassischen, erwartbaren, zum Glück erwartbaren CJ Punk, schnelle Songs wie „There Stands The Glas“ und „This Town“ oder eingängige Midtempo-Hymnen wie „Blue Skies„, „Waitin‘ On The Sun“ oder „Stand Up“, one, two, three, alles klar. Und doch überrascht CJ Ramone hier und da, spielt bei „Movin‘ On“ mit ein wenig Country, verpasst „I’m Disappointed“ ein dreckiges Solo oder gönnt sich mit „Hands Of Mine“ eine Ballade.
Am 24. Juli sollten wir uns, solltet ihr euch gönnen, dann spielt CJ Ramone im Hafenklang. Könnte … göttlich werden. (mf)
