Dieser Brite geht ans Herz, ob man das nun will oder nicht, wird hier niemand gefragt. Da bleibt auch beim eingefleischtesten Romantiker kein Auge trocken. Schon gar nicht bei seiner neuen Single “If You Wanna Love Somebody”. Mit seinem neuem Album “Jubilee Road” im Gepäck zieht Tom Odell am 1. November für einen Abend ins Mehr! Theater ein.
Unverkennbar wirkt vor allem seine fragile Stimme sowie sein lebendiger Pianostil. Schon die Vorgänger “Long Way Down” und “Wrong Crowd” hatten es in sich. Im Herbst folgt dann seine wohl persönlichste Platte.
”I wrote this album in a house on a quiet terraced street in East London. The lyrics are inspired by the lives of the friends I made whilst living there. I recorded most the songs in the living room of the house and if I listen back closely, I can still hear the sound of the old man’s television shows coming through the walls from next door, the kids from the house opposite playing football in the street below and the sound of my girlfriend’s footsteps on the wooden floorboards above. I don’t live there anymore, my life has changed somewhat, but I will always remember the time fondly.â€.
So groß seine Songs auch klingen, Tom Odell gibt nur selten die Kontrolle über seine Musik aus der Hand. Auf “Jubilee Road” übernahm er einfach mal das Gesamtpaket und produzierte die Platte in all ihren Facetten selbst. Wir sind gespannt, was uns nach dem Sommer erwartet. (tki)
